Contractor purchased 8 Gillig Phantom 35, forty passenger buses powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) using Cummins L10-24G Natural Gas Engines. These vehicles replaced eight existing diesel-powered transit buses used for shuttling airline passengers between airline terminals and remote parking areas. Contractor also installed a refueling facility for LNG vehicles.

The shuttles were operating in and around the Los Angeles International Airport. The areas directly east of the airport complex will benefit from cleaner air as the predominant winds blow from west to east. Pollutants are not being blown into the commercial and residential areas in the surrounding communities.
The projected emission reductions from the 8 vehicles being driven 35,000 miles annually are 1,852 pounds. (231 pounds per unit annually).
