LADOT developed and deployed 4 advanced LPG hybrid electric buses to support their Lincoln Heights/Chinatown community-based fixed route shuttle bus service. El Dorado National Coach manufactures the bus chassis and body. The buses are 30-foot transit vehicles currently offered in diesel, alternative fuel, and hybrid electric combinations. ISE Research of San Diego manufactures and integrates the hybrid electric drive system. Hybrid electric vehicles differ from both traditional internal combustion engines (ICEs) and pure battery-electric in that two energy sources are utilized and optimized for maximum efficiency.

The Lincoln Heights/Chinatown communities were provided the hybrid shuttle service. Areas adjacent to the shuttle routes will benefit from the lack of emissions.
The buses are currently undergoing certification by the California Air Resources Board. Once certified, it will be possible to accurately quantify the emissions reductions. A preliminary assessment yielded the following estimated annual reductions for the four bus fleet: Non-methane Organic Gases (NMOG), 520 pounds; Carbon Monoxide (CO/7), 52 pounds; and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), 3,410 pounds.
