The City of San Bernardino purchased from Diversified Truck Center; ten(10)sideloader refuse collection vehicles, three (3) front loader refuse collection vehicles, and two (2) roll-off refuse collection vehicles.
The purpose of this project is to purchase fifteen (15) Autocar refuse trucks equipped with dedicated liquified natural gas(LNG) engines. Each LNG truck has a life expectancy of 7 years and will operate approximately 9,525 miles per year.
The City of San Bernadino encountered the following problems in the performance of this project: 1. The need to complete the renovations to the fleet shop so that repairs can be made to the LNG vehicles inside the shop. 2. The additional maintenance requirements of the newer technology. 3. The reduced range/fuel mileage of the new technology.
All fifteen LNG vehicles have been placed into service.
