NES purchased three new Tymco Model 600 vacuum air regenerative street sweepers equipped with the Cummins ISL-G engine. Vehicle orders were placed beginning in December 2012. All three vehicles were deployed in revenue service as of December 2013.
This project expanded the fleet of CNG street sweeping vehicles operated by NES. Three (3) new Tymco Model 600 CNG-fueled vehicles were purchased with funding assistance provided by the MSRC.
This project is expected to displace over 273,000 gallons of diesel fuel over the projected vehicle life, resulting in a reduction in ozone precursor emissions estimated at over 7.5 tons. Additionally, the vacuum-regenerative sweepers are expected to reduce over 6.8 tons of reentrained PM10 road dust over their lifetime.
No technical or vehicle performance issues have been experienced by NES to date; the vehicles have performed well in daily street sweeping operations and NES has received positive responses from both drivers and customers. Each truck consumes on the order of 9,100 diesel equivalent gallons (DEG) of compressed natural gas per year. The expected life of each vehicle is greater than ten (10) years.
