This summer’s OC Fair Express Successfully Rides Again with Tens of Thousands of Passengers

The OC Fair Express wrapped up its most successful summer yet, with more than 83,000 riders using the non-stop bus service, which picks up fair-goers from nine locations throughout Orange County and drops them off at the fair’s entrance. Operated by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), the service was provided during the five weekends of the fair’s run. In fact, the last weekend of the fair – August 10 and 11 – set a record for a single weekend, with nearly 18,500 passengers on that weekend alone.

For the eighth year in a row, the MSRC helped fund the service because it gets people out of their cars and onto public transportation, helping to reduce vehicle congestion around the venue and cutting air pollution. Not only did riders help the environment, but they also saved money by using the service. The fare was $4 round trip and passengers received a coupon for $4 admission to the OC Fair – a savings of up to $10 off the regular entrance price. Additionally, they saved $10 by not having to pay parking fees.

A total of 83,010 people rode the OC Fair Express, up more than 4 percent from last summer. The MSRC looks forward to partnering again with OCTA when the OC Fair Express returns next July.
