The City of La Verne takes pride in its full service philosophy. Maintaining an in-house street sweeping program is necessary to preserve the personal attention our citizens have come to expect. Having on-site CNG refueling capabilities affords compliance with AQMDs fleet rules while reducing our dependence on gasoline and diesel.

The City of La Verne contracted with Adrianus Resources for grant application guidance and preparation of an RFP for design and construction of a CNG fueling station. Design and construction was awarded to Gas Equipment Systems, who completed the station in March of 2008. City staff purchased 4 CNG powered vehicles using established purchasing policies. Two ton pick-ups, a passenger van and a street sweeper are currently in-service, using the citys newly commissioned CNG fuel station.
A) To replace higher emission gas and diesel powered maintenance vehicles with lower emission, compressed natural gas vehicles. To comply with AQMD rules #1186.1, 1191 and 1196. B) To provide the fueling infrastructure necessary to support the CNG vehicles now owned by the city, and encourage the purchase of CNG vehicles in the future.
The station is expected to dispense 6,000 equivalent gallons during its first year of operation. Second year estimates exceed 12,000 equivalent gallons and 17,300 gallons are estimated for the third year.
