Project Background

Contractor upgraded forty-five bus stops, added shelters to thirty-nine, built nineteen new shelters, and refurbished twenty-one. Fifty-one benches were added at high usage stops and stops without shelters. The population of Bell Gardens is dense - 44,000 persons in 2.4 square miles. Most of the population is transient, low-income, and dependent upon public transportation.
