Project Background

Contractor purchased six Pedal Pick-Ups,(bicycles) for use in the maintenance program in the City's newly developed Queensway Bay/Aquarium area. The bicycles were used to transport gardening equipment and supplies through the numerous esplanades and gardens surrounding the Aquarium. They could navigate through the pedestrians in an efficient manner. The pick-ups were also used to collect trash and garbage from the 70 containers in the park eliminating the need for gas-fueled vehicles in the area.

The City of Long Beach is using these six bicycles in the Aquarium area. The portions of the City inland from the Aquarium benefit as the prevailing winds blow inland from the shore area.
