Contractor introduced fourteen compressed natural gas (CNG) waste haulers into the Coachella Valley. Nine were diesel trucks which were repowered and refueled, adding compressed natural gas (CNG) capability. One truck was converted at Ecotrons Technology Center in Los Angeles. After ninety days of testing, the remaining eight trucks were repowered at Econtrans. The Contractor also purchased five new heavy-duty collection trucks through Contractor's corporate offices in Oakbrook, Illinois. The first of the trucks, powered by a Cummins L10-260 engine, is now performing well in the Palm Desert fleet. The remaining four trucks of the purchased five were powered by Cummins L10-300G engines and remain operational.
