Project Implementation

The geograpic areas reaping the benefits of this program cover the gamut from parks, crowd control at venues throught the area, airport traffic patrols, and parking lot security details. The lack of emissions from motor patrols has not been calculated for each of these uses, however it factors into the estimated emission reduction figures shown above. This program has been initiated in the Los Angeles area which is very diverse. The conditions met in Los Angeles show the program could be adapted anywhere the need arose.

Project Results Description

The 44 electric bicycles have an estimated emission reduction as follows: Reactive Organic Gases, 750 pounds per year; Oxides of Nitrogen, 1,390 pounds per year; Particulate Matter, 614 pounds per year; and Carbon Monoxide, 727 pounds per year.

Project Status Description

Details of the efficiency and diverse uses of the bicycles and the resulting benefits, financial details, and information on the specific equipment necessary to convert the normal bicycle into a police bicycle.
