The City of Riverside solicited competitive bids and awarded the bids to the lowest responsible bidder.
The objective of the project was to replace nine (9) gasoline powered pick up trucks, that were in poor condition and had exceeded their useful service life, with medium-duty compressed natural gas (CNG)vehicles. Replacement vehicles include four (4)Ford F-150 pick-up trucks equipped with Triton V-8 dedicated CNG engines and five (5)GM 2500 utility bed trucks equipped with Vortec 6000 CNG engines.
All nine vehicles have been placed into service. The vehicles have a life expectancy of 10 years and travel approximately 9,000 to 15,000 per year. Based on the experience gained through the completion of the project, the City has provided recommendations for other agencies pursuing similar purchases. The Final Report includes a summary of the project and recommendations.
