The City purchased the pickup trucks from Wondries Fleet Group. A request for proposals was prepared to design and build the CNG fueling station. The City received three proposals and awarded the contract to Gas Equipment Systems.
The purpose of this project is to purchase three (3) Ford F 150 pickup trucks equipped with 5.4 L, 175 hp dedicated CNG engines, and construct a small natural gas refueling station. The vehicles have a life expectancy of 7 years each, averaging 10,000 miles per year, per vehicle. The station is located at the Mission Viejo Water District at 27204 La Paz in Mission Viejo.
Vehicles are in service. The CNG station was commissioned on June 30, 2005. It consists of two (2) 10 scfm compressors, two quad Fuelmaker units capable of refueling the three pickup trucks overnight as well as the City's five other light duty CNG vehicles.
