Project Background

This contract is for purchasing and installing California Air Resources Board (CARB) verified Level 3 diesel particulate filters (DPFs) on forty-one Districts-owned heavy-duty transfer trucks. All forty-one trucks will be used for solid waste operations within the boundaries of the SCAQMD.

Project Implementation

All 41 diesel particualte filiters were installed by December 22, 2006, and all are working sucessfully.

Project Objectives

The Project Objective is to reduce diesel particulate in the exhaust emissions of these 41 heavy-duty trucks by at least 85 percent.

Project Results Description

The forty-one trucks have accumulated more than 461,000 miles since December 2006, and the particulate emissions have been reduced by more than 35 tons.
