Summary and Conclusions

The City of La Caada Flintridge contracts for the operation of the Beeline Route 3 and LCF Express Shuttle which traverses Foothill Boulevard and is currently serviced by the Citys sole shuttle bus and shuttle buses of our contractor (City of Glendale). However, City shuttle buses available are not sufficient to meet the growing demand from the community for these service lines within the City. Therefore, the MSRC Local Government Match grant helped City to purchase a new CNG Shuttle Bus to provide the desired transit services and fully supports the Citys goal of clean air and a healthier environment.

The City went to bid on a 2008 New Flyer Low Floor CNG Shuttle Bus with a Cummins C8.3G CNG Engine. The vehicle runs on CNG fuel with a life span of 12 years. The cost to purchase the vehicle was $403,458.42. With the assistance of MSRC funding, the City was able to supplement $20,000 of the cost of this new CNG bus purchase. The vehicle was ordered in October 2008 after City Council approval and delivered January 2009.
