The City of Malibu prepared and issued a bid package for the vehicle. An award was made to the lowest responsible bidder.
The objective of the project was to purchase one (1) medium-duty Ford F-150 pick-up truck equipped with 5.4L, 225 hp dedicated CNG engine with a life expectancy of seven years. Annual mileage is estimated at 10,000 miles. The vehicle would be housed and refueled at the City maintenance yard.
The City of Malibu intended to purchase one (1) CNG dedicated pick-up truck. However, it ultimately purchased three (3) CNG F-150 medium-duty pick up trucks and one hybrid vehicle. The City took delivery of the 3 CNG vehicles in November 2005 and placed them into service on December 5, 2005. In March 2006, the City placed it hybrid vehicle into service.
