The goal is to align major event centers with their regional transit providers to create a transportation option for event attendees as an alternative to their personal automobile. ]]></description>

The intent is to promote the use of bicycles as the transportation linkage between the commuter’s home or workplace and public transit stations – the bicycle providing the essential “first and last mile” of connectivity that allows the commuter to use public transportation for their commute.]]></description>

    		<title><![CDATA[Development and Implementation of a &#8220;Rideshare Thursday&#8221; Public Awareness Campaign]]></title>

    		<description><![CDATA[<strong>Submission Deadline:</strong> Jun 26, 2012 5:00pm<br />The MSRC is seeking proposals to retain a qualified public relations firm, advertising agency, or other public or private entity (contractor) to develop and implement a regional public awareness campaign promoting the benefits of ridesharing.  The theme of the campaign is Rideshare Thursday; the objective of which is to encourage Southland commuters to use an alternative commute mode at least one day each week.  It is the desire of the MSRC that the campaign reintroduce creative strategies previously funded by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) during the 1993-1994 Team Rideshare/Rideshare Thursday campaign.

Categories this year include alternative-fuel infrastructure, fleet maintenance facility upgrades, electric vehicle charging stations, medium- and heavy-duty alternative fuel vehicles, and street sweeping operations in the Coachella Valley.  <b>Certification forms were inadvertently omitted from the solicitation.  Applications may be submitted without the forms, and they will be requested subsequent to application submittal.  Applicants may also download forms from the AQMD website.</b>]]></description>
