The County of Riverside Human Resources Department established RIDESAVER.COM, a rideshare and commuting information resource accessible via the Internet or County Kiosk. Prior to the development of Ridesaver.com, there was no single resource for commuting information for the residents of Riverside County. In addition, it was difficult for the rideshare office to distribute information about the County's Rideshare Program to its 1,500 employees located at 200 sites within a 7,200 square mile area. In March of 2000, a ten-member project team, representing County departments and agencies, as well as consultants representing the public's interests, was formed to oversee development of a single resouce for rideshare and commute information. Ridesaver.com provides residents and County employees with real-time information regarding rideshare and other alternative commute options. It is accessible via the Internet, the County Intranet, as well as a network of 40 kiosks located at malls, libraries, social service agencies, and County offices.
