The Los Angeles County MTA implemented an employer-based rideshare incentive program in an effort to reduce solo automobile use and promote ridesharing. The MTA Rideshare Rewards/Club Metro program is designed as a two-tier, incentive-based program. The two program components include the following: "Rideshare Rewards", which provides drive-alone commuters with $2/day in gift certificates for each day they rideshare within a three month period, up to a maximum of $120, and "Club Metro", which rewards commuters who use a rideshare arangement for a period of six months or longer. Club Metro participants earn discounts at local travel, entertainment, and culinary venues in the form of a special coupon book produced by Entertainment Publications especially for the Program. Recently, the Club Metro Program has been modified to provide membership after three months of ridesharing. The Program targets employer sites of less than 250 employees within Los Angeles County. These sites are not regulated under South Coast AQMD Rule 2202.
